WINNINGTON ROAD
London
The project involved demolition whilst supporting the retained front façade, as well as the excavation of an extensive basement and the formation of a new roof. The building has some breath-taking features, one of the most notable is perhaps the cantilevered Portuguese limestone round-staircase, formed from stainless steel and featuring a balustrade with leather handrail. The walls to the stairs consist of polished plaster, and the main entrance is complimented by Portuguese white limestone flooring and a feature wall. A glass floor is situated at the bottom of the stairwell, which perceives the main rotunda below, leading to the remarkable 15m pool. This has an amazing feature backlit rear wall of fossil quartz suspended in blue resin. The remainder of the basement has a glass-sided gym, a cinema, a fine-wine room, a snooker room, a garage for eight cars and a turntable.
